Looking for a West Coast experience where you can soak it all in? Well, if the pun fits... Hot Springs Cove is waiting for you. Order your backpack lunch from The Pointe Restaurant, and pack swimwear, sturdy footwear (we recommend water socks or hiking sandals for walking on the wet rocks), and a towel for this daytrip. Hot Springs Cove is located in Maquinna Provincial Marine Park, 27 nautical miles northwest of Tofino, and is accessible exclusively by boat or seaplane. Getting there is half the fun, with possible sightings of wildlife like whales and sea lions complementing breathtaking coastal scenery. Our preferred outfitters will often offer a Sea to Sky travel option, where you can enjoy the one-hour boat ride to the springs, then return to Tofino on an exciting 20 minute seaplane flight, or vice-versa. This is a particularly good option in the summer months, as an early or later trip can be timed to ensure the most serene experience possible.

An easy half-hour walk along a cedar boardwalk leads you through temperate old growth forest to the geothermal hot springs, which are still in their natural state, untouched. These hot springs consist of a waterfall and five interconnected pools, cooling progressively as they descend toward the ocean. Twice a day at high tide, a surge of cold ocean water washes into the hot springs pools, flushing out their waters and creating a unique and invigorating blend of hot and cold. "Hot", in these waters, qualifies as 50° C or 122° F.

Trips to Hot Springs Cove are offered year-round, weather permitting, and can make for a romantic winter adventure or a fun spring outing.

The $3/person user fee for the Maquinna Provincial Marine Park is typically included in your travel package, and our Concierge is available to answer questions you may have about this Tofino daytrip. Hot Springs Cove Village is located further down the inlet on the traditional territory of the Hesquiaht people, who are members of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, and you may see residents of remote communities shuttling about on your travels to and from the springs. Hot Springs Cove is nature's perfect spa experience.
