For Fares Cherni, the call of the coast runs deep. Originally drawn to Tofino by a yearning for serenity and adventure, his journey to the Wickaninnish Inn is rooted in a profound love for nature and a commitment to meaningful hospitality.
As Assistant Housekeeping Manager, Fares leads with intention, upholding a standard of care that reflects both the spirit of the Inn and the breathtaking surroundings of the Pacific Rim. “It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that ensures guests have a memorable and comfortable stay,” he shares. He believes that thoughtful touches, no matter how small, are what shape each guest’s experience.
With its raw beauty and strong community spirit, Tofino has shaped his lifestyle and deepened his appreciation for life’s quieter, more reflective moments. “Spending time here teaches you to appreciate the small moments, the sound of the waves, the fresh sea breeze, and a slower, more mindful lifestyle,” he reflects. “There’s something grounding about being immersed in landscapes that allow space to reflect and recharge.”
Fares brings this same presence and mindfulness into his work. Every detail matters, from the impeccable cleanliness of a guest room to a warm greeting in the hallway. “I strive to create unforgettable experiences by being attentive to detail, offering genuine warmth, and sharing knowledge about the local area,” he explains. Fares is deeply motivated by the opportunity to positively impact others and finds joy in working closely with his team to uphold the Inn’s high standards.

When he’s not at the Inn, he gravitates toward activities that engage both body and mind. He enjoys the camaraderie and energy of a good soccer match, the creativity of experimenting in the kitchen, and the quiet challenge of a chess game. He also has a personal passion for media, acting, and reciting Arabic poetry, pursuits that allow him to express himself creatively and connect with others on a deeper level.
Fares often seeks out quiet corners of the coast - secluded beaches and forest trails that offer moments of stillness and reflection. These are the places where he feels most connected, whether watching the northern lights or taking in a sunset over the ocean. For him, nature’s quiet power continues to inspire and restore.
“Every moment in a place like Tofino is an opportunity to connect with nature and yourself,” he says. And for Fares, it’s that connection, to the landscape, to others, and to meaningful work, that continues to shape his journey at the Wickaninnish Inn.
