Meet Ali Cukier, our incredible Special Events Manager. Having previously worked at an upscale catering company in Vancouver, Ali was introduced to the Inn through a colleague who had spotted a position opening on our Special Events team. Ali leapt at the opportunity to learn more about hotel catering while still being able to facilitate the events she was familiar with. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Ali’s connection with the Tofino area reaches back many years prior to putting roots down. Before she was even walking, her family would come to the Tofino-Ucluelet area on trips together. In her teenage years, she would camp along the coast with her now husband, Allan. At 19, Allan asked her to move to Tofino with him. At the time, she could not quite imagine living in a one-street town at the edge of an Island and went on to complete her schooling in Vancouver. The day she wrote her last university exam, Allan asked again. This time, it was a resounding yes. She spent a year in Ucluelet before joining our team here in Tofino.

Growing up in Calgary, Ali never thought she would one day be able to say that her summer office sits on a pristine, world-class beach. After four beautiful years on the coast, Ali feels she’s made to live out here. Time spent in the fresh air is abundant, inspiring happiness and balance in her life. On the days she’s not curating stunning experiences, you’ll find her immersed in nature. She loves to hike and recently purchased a canoe which has opened up a world of possibilities for new adventures. While not a big surfer, she’s a self-proclaimed avid “surf appreciator” who loves to go for walks on the beach with Allan and her Bernedoodle puppy Frida.

When asked what she loves most about the Wickaninnish Inn, Ali shares that every day is unique, and each team member holds themselves to an exceptionally high standard. With an abundance of resources and support at her fingertips, the only limitation to what she can create is her own imagination. In a place where there’s so much to experience, Ali is endlessly inspired to make the most of life.

We count ourselves incredibly lucky to have individuals like Ali as part of our family. The sum of each team member’s distinctive expertise, passions, and talent is what makes the Wick a truly special place.
