Signature Experiences all about Canada
Original Article by Nicole Robinson for Halifax Chronicle-Herald
Canada has been on the world stage lately and just recently we have been voted as Second Best Country out of 60. We also hit number one in quality of life.
I believe this is due to all the awesome things you can do here. We have a program here in Canada called Signature Experiences and these tourism activities take place in all our wonderful provinces, and they are all one-of-a-kind in Canada. The operator has to apply and meet some tough criteria to be named a Signature Experience but if named it gives you some major props. Destination Canada will market your experience around the world during tradeshows, conferences, commercials, and print ads.
I've been lucky enough to enjoy a few of these experiences but I do have a bucket list of ones to still experience. So for those of you who might be visiting friends or family, or travelling for work this year, why not take a bit of a detour and try out what people from around the world are begging to do here. Here are a few that I think you might like, but feel free to check out this website that lists them all (caen-keepexploring.canada.travel»)
Wickaninnish Inn: Storm Watchers - If you're anything like me you love a good storm. With swells of 20 feet in height and someone of the craziest weather between Canada and Japan it's a panoramic view unlike any other place.
Fort McMurray:Light up Adventure - Snowmobile or ski while watching some of the most spectacular Northern Light show around.
Historic Reesor Ranch: Cypress Hills Cowboy Adventure - Saddle up and dust yourself off and experience what a real cowboy/cowgirl does each day.
Churchill Wild: Birds, Bears and Belugas - Seriously??? This is right at the top of my list. I have loved belugas since I was a little girl and getting all the B's together in one trip, makes me smile.
CN Tower: Unique Sky High Adrenaline Rush - Not for the faint of heart this walk around the tower may be the bravest thing you ever do.
Ice Hotel Canada - Icy and Urban Adventure - A friend just recently experienced this and said it was one very incredible experience.
King's Landing: Historical Settlement - This 19th Century historical settlement is one of the best in Canada. Learn to spin wool, oxen pull, or cook over an open hearth, while wearing period costume.
Prince Edward Island
Tranquility Cove Adventures: Giant Bar Clam Dig - Get your snorkeling gear on to search for your lunch of clams, and eat right there on the beach, doesn't get more authentic than that.
Halifax Citadel: Soldier for a Day - Fire the rifles, eat the foods and live life just as soldiers would have.
The Iceberg Quest - The chance of seeing and touching something that is 12,000 years old, and even drink some of the oldest water around...are you kidding me?
Artic Range - Once-in-a-lifetime Northern Canadian winter road-trip through the Yukon and Northwest Territories with Arctic Range Adventure's Ice Road to Tuktoyaktuk.
Rafting the Nahanni - A 3,162 km or winding river where you can swim, gold pan and eat in the wilderness, is pretty raw and exciting.
