For those who love elegant relaxation (and who doesn’t?), we have another must-stay venue for you. Overlooking Ganges Harbour on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Hastings House Country House Hotel is an estate accommodation with a colourful history.

Built in 1939 by English Naval architect Warren Hastings, the original Manor House is now part of a group of buildings—the Farmhouse, the Post Cottage, the Barn—that will delight history buffs with their stories.

Since 1980, Hastings House has been refurbished to become a coveted country resort and fine dining destination. Executive Chef Kauer and his team are celebrated as creating some of the best fare on the Island via the Hastings House Fine Dining Room (famous for the local lamb dish) and the Bistro, both with an extensive wine list on offer.

The exceptional dining experience is perfectly complemented by the property’s serene grounds and gardens, making it an excellent venue for hosting special events and gatherings.

If you’re looking for a more personal retreat, wander the walking trails through the garden to the Wellspring Spa. Protected in a nest cedar trees, the Wellspring is a boutique wellness centre. Restorative signature treatments at the Spa focus on finding and maintaining mind-body balance.

If you’re looking for more activities on your daily menu, Salt Spring Island has a lot to offer! There’s many events happening year-round in this spirited community.

Easily accessed from the mainland or Vancouver Island, Salt Spring Island is a beloved stop over whichever direction you’re traveling, and, due its mild climate, any season is a beautiful time to visit. Make sure you include some flexibility in your schedule, time at Hastings House is known to pass by unnoticed!
