It’s not “you don’t get to choose” at Alo Restaurant, it’s “you don’t have to.” This contemporary French dining room in the heart of Toronto is a Relais & Châteaux restaurant known for its exquisite blind tasting menu offerings, taking the guesswork out of what dish should follow what course, or which wine to pair with and bring out the variety of tastes. You’re in good hands at Alo. It’s simply divine, and the generous reception and attention to detail will make you feel completely relaxed and cared for.

Be prepared to spend the entire evening here, you’ll want to take your time to enjoy the exclusive ambience of the room. Found perched atop a heritage building above the bustle of the street, there’s no distraction to keep you from enjoying the multiple courses focussed on the finest seasonal ingredients.

Alo offers two distinct dining experiences: the Dining Room and the Kitchen Counter, both are similarly serviced but have different menus. For those that forgot to book in advance (necessary for the tasting menu bookings, reservations are made available in two-month blocks at a time), there’s an intimate 20-seat walk-in space: The Bar at Alo.

The cocktail bar offers an à la carte menu of share plates featuring raw seafood, meat-based entrées, several delicious vegetable plates and decadent desserts. The barroom is a little less structured in its offerings, but—with East Coast oysters, Hokkaido sea urchin and duck confit—it’s hardly your average menu. Bringing out the extraordinary in classic cocktails, The Bar at Alo has a knowledgeable team to add finesse and a made-for-you suggestion to the cuisine offerings.

With impeccable taste in every aspect across the board—food presentation to service—it’s no wonder Alo is rated one of Canada’s top restaurants.
