Hike the famed Mount Fuji - Gôra Kadan, Hakone, Japan
Situated in the heart of the Hakone National Park, Gôra Kadan is the former retreat of the Imperial Family Kanin-no-miya. It also happens to be one of three gateways to Mount Fuji, Japan's highest peak. For the physically fit, an ascent of this iconic, active stratovolcano takes about six hours to the summit at 12,388 feet (3,775 metres) and is only permitted in the summertime. Efforts will surely be rewarded with incredible vistas and a dazzling view of the rising or setting sun after passing the final torii (a traditional Japanese gate).
