Note From Charles: Spring on Chesterman Beach and Tofino
Robin Williams said it best: “Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’ ” After all, this is the season of re-awakening, especially here at the Inn, where nature is springing to life all around us.
Spring brings the whales back from their wintering grounds in the south, and that means this is prime whale watching season. It’s the season for bear watching, too, as the warmer weather encourages the local black bears to venture out of hibernation and down to the water’s edge in search of breakfast. The sunshine inspires all of us to head out for endless walks on the hard-packed sands of Chesterman Beach, where we can watch the waves roll in as surfers emerge from the morning mists. Flowers are blooming, birds are singing and before you know it, wedding season will soon be upon us.
Meanwhile, as we wake up to spring, the rest of the world is waking up to the Inn. In February, the Inn was named to Travel + Leisure magazine’s list of Best Beach Hotels and TripAdvisor has recognized our own Chesterman Beach as a “favourite.” We’re honoured by the recognition.
Best of all, spring means we’ll be able to welcome more of our visitors venturing up Highway 4 to our inn on the edge of the ocean. We’re waiting for you, and ready to say, “Let’s party!”
