Fresh and Flavourful: Spring is often the season associated with an abundance of available wild sustenance, but did you know the coast offers year-round locavore eating? This weekend we celebrate the Oyster with Pacific Rim Oyster Festival. New menus at The Pointe Restaurant feature foraged salal berries, kelp, cynamoka berries, mushrooms to accompany our heartier fare such as elk, duck, and of course the always wonderful seafood options available.

Working Together: The Central Westcoast Forest Society is a Vancouver Island based registered charity focusing on salmon habitat conservation, stream restoration, research and education. They just released their winter educational speaker series in Tofino and Ucluelet, giving us all an opportunity to learn about local watersheds, inhabiting species and the good work being done to preserve them.
