One of the great privileges of time spent on this coastline is the chance to explore it on foot, and hiking is a uniquely immersive way to connect with this place. Meander through the towering Sitka spruces, or follow a forested trail that opens onto the ocean’s edge. Each step reveals something new – lush undergrowth, the scent of cedar, or the sound of surf just beyond the canopy.
There is remarkable diversity in the trails that surround us, from gentle interpretive strolls to full-day excursions that carry you far beyond the familiar. Guided hikes, in particular, offer an in-depth opportunity to learn about the flora, fauna, and geography of the West Coast.

We are pleased to invite our guests for a complimentary guided walk with Long Beach Nature Tours on Wednesday and Saturday mornings throughout the summer. These 90-minute interpretive walks follow the Rainforest Beach Trail from the Inn’s grounds to Chesterman Beach, offering insight into the rhythms of the surrounding landscape.
The Kwisitis Visitor Centre offers interpretive walks through BC Parks and programs, which are an excellent opportunity to deepen your understanding of the natural and cultural history of the region. West Coast NEST curates a thoughtful calendar of outdoor education-focused events in the community to encourage a sense of connection between people and place.

For those looking to venture farther, Long Beach Nature Tours offers immersive nature and wildlife tours. Explore old-growth rainforests and untouched beaches of Flores Island Provincial Park, soar into the high peaks above Clayoquot Sound and the Vancouver Island Alps for a heli-accessed hike, or stroll through Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
If you're wondering where to begin, our Concierge team would be delighted to share their recommendations – whether you’re seeking something quiet and contemplative or ready to take on a bucket-list adventure. There’s much to learn about the ecosystems, wildlife, and cultural history that define this region.
However you choose to explore, we hope it brings you closer to the spirit of Tofino.
Warmly,
Charles
