Happy New Year! As we turn a new leaf and welcome 2026, the Inn enters its annual closure, a quietly energetic season focused on renewal throughout the property. While our doors are closed to guests for a short time, this is anything but a pause for our team. Each year, this time becomes an all-hands-on-deck effort to tend to every nook and corner of the Inn, refining spaces and details with care in anticipation of the year ahead.

More than 300 projects are underway this month. Big and small, they all focus on enhancing our guests’ comfort and considering the details that shape how every stay feels. Upon walking through our front doors, new furnishings will beckon you to stop and take in the view. We are also updating our suites and select guest room furniture, while also introducing new in-room comforts designed to deepen relaxation throughout your stay. Behind the scenes, our teams are busy refining the systems and workflows that support seamless operations

As we work together to polish our surroundings, January also offers a meaningful chance to recognize the people who shape the Inn each day. At our end-of-year awards gala, we were proud to honour Baptiste Tendero as our Team Member of the Year. Since joining the team, Baptiste has approached his work with curiosity and focus. His attention to detail, willingness to step beyond his own role, and the strong relationships he has built with guests and the wider community have left a lasting mark. We were equally proud to recognize Nadine Rethmeier as our Leader of the Year. Nadine leads from within her team, showing up fully each day with care, consistency, and a steady presence, embodying the very best of who we strive to be.

The tremendous efforts of our team were recently recognized with the Wickaninnish Inn’s inclusion on Condé Nast Traveller’s 2026 Gold List. Curated by editors across the globe, the Gold List highlights their favourite places to stay. We are delighted to be included and humbled to be the only property in Canada recognized this year. This acknowledgement belongs to our entire team, as well as to the guests whose trust and presence continue to guide what we do – thank you!

Looking ahead, Valentine’s Day and Family Day are just around the corner. These long weekends tend to book quickly, so we encourage you to plan ahead if you’re dreaming of a winter escape by the sea.
