A Note From Charles - December 2025
Article Information & Social Sharing

The Inn is aglow with holiday lights, evergreens, and the cozy warmth that settles in each December, a familiar feeling that marks the arrival of the festive season. This year’s Holiday Light Tour and Fundraiser was a special moment to welcome the season alongside our community, and together, we raised $2155.50, complemented by an additional $2,155.50 from the Inn in support of Fish and Loaves Tofino and the Food Bank on the Edge in Ucluelet. As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on all that 2025 has brought us at the Wickaninnish Inn. There is a great deal to appreciate, and many reminders of how fortunate we are to call this coastline home.
This year brought noteworthy recognition for both Tofino and the Inn itself. Chesterman Beach was named the 6th Best Beach in the World by Lonely Planet, a reminder of the natural beauty that surrounds us. Our sustainability efforts were acknowledged through the Forbes Travel Guide VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality badge. We were also honoured to be named #3 Resort in Canada in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards and #3 Best Resort in the USA & Canada by Condé Nast Traveller, acknowledgements that reflect the care and consistency that go into every stay.
Throughout the year, the Henry Nolla Gallery welcomed a remarkable range of local artists whose work reflects the diverse perspectives and creative spirit of the West Coast. Beyond the gallery, we were pleased to participate and lend our support to community events, including the West Coast Visions Art Show, the Tofino Jazz Festival, Queen of the Peak, and the Tofino Wine + Dine Festival. These moments highlighted the shared energy that makes this region so special. At the centre of it all are the people, including our team members and guests, who shape the character of this place in countless ways.

As the year unfolded, several new developments took shape across the Inn. One of the most exciting was the full opening of Hemlock Hideaway, which now welcomes weddings, receptions, dinners, and other gatherings under the old-growth canopy. The summer Crab Cookout continued to evolve in its new on-site location, bringing even more energy to our guests in its second season. Alongside these moments, a refreshed Ancient Cedars Spa menu was introduced, expanding and deepening our treatment offerings designed to restore and reconnect.

Looking ahead to 2026, I extend my sincere appreciation to our guests who joined us this year and to every member of our team who brings care and craft to their work each day. We will gather soon for our annual team gala and awards ceremony, a moment to pause and acknowledge the people who are at the heart of all we do. This corner of the world continues to inspire us, and it remains a privilege to share it with you. Wherever the festive season finds you and your loved ones, on behalf of the entire Wick family, we wish you a wonderful end to 2025, and we hope to welcome you through our hand-carved cedar doors once again in 2026.
With warmth,
Charles
