With the grounds adorned in bright lights and handmade ornaments, the Inn has taken on its festive glow for the holiday season. These winter days invite an opportunity to reflect on the year passed while sipping a mug of coffee by the fireplace – perhaps with a touch of Bailey’s, or as we call it, cream and sugar. Beyond the warmth of the Inn, brooding clouds and spirited winds whip across the shoreline of our coastal haven in an awe-inspiring display of Mother Nature’s power. Storm-watching is particularly mesmerizing this time of year, and should you wish to tune in, our beachcam offers a peek into the action.

I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Copenhagen, where the annual Relais & Châteaux Rendez-Vous brought together owners and maîtres de maison from over 600 properties around the world. Reaching from one coast of Canada to the other, we extended a warm welcome to Fogo Island Inn, a new addition to the Relais & Châteaux family. Amidst many inspiring connections and insights at the event, we also had the privilege of accepting the Sustainability Trophy. It is a humbling recognition of our long-standing commitment to the environment and our communities.

Last week, the holiday cheer was in full swing at our Holiday Light Tour, where guests and locals joined us to stroll the grounds, savour a hot chocolate, and share in the holiday spirit. Together, we raised $2,613.00 for our community food banks in Ucluelet and Tofino, which have been matched by the Wick and collected significant food donations for Fish and Loaves. A special thank you to Camilla Thorogood for her ongoing contributions to the beautiful decorations, the Treble Sparrows children’s choir and our Wickaninnish Inn team carolers for entertaining everyone on a frosty night and, Tuff City Radio for sharing the news and the carols during the event. A sincere thank you to all who joined in on the festivities and generously supported this annual fundraising tradition that is near and dear to our hearts.

Our annual revitalization lies just around the corner as we close our doors to guests on January 2nd. This dedicated time of renewal is focused on polishing and refreshing the Inn, refining and maintaining the exceptional quality and service that we take great pride in delivering to our valued guests. We very much look forward to welcoming guests back to our splendid little corner of the Island on Friday, February 9th, 2024.

Wishing you and your loved ones warmth this holiday season, and a joyous start to the new year.

Charles
