A Note From Charles - April 2025
Article Information & Social Sharing
April in Tofino is a month of contrast - bursts of sunshine followed by misty rain, the calm of early mornings giving way to the lively calls of returning shorebirds. It's a time when the landscape feels particularly dynamic, inviting moments of stillness and spontaneous exploration. Whether you're drawn to the invigorating scent of the lush rainforest after a light shower or the serene expanse of Chesterman Beach at low tide, this special time of year offers a distinctive rhythm all its own.
On that note, we are thrilled to see Chesterman Beach recently named the sixth-best beach in the world by Lonely Planet. For those who know this coastline, its recognition feels well deserved. With its stretching shoreline, the steady flow of the waves, and the interplay of light and weather, Chesterman offers a quiet, ever-changing beauty that invites reflection and connection. Stroll the shore at sunrise, watch surfers navigate the break, or pause to take in the sunset from your suite. There’s a natural cadence here that’s both grounding and restorative, and we invite you to settle into its pace, even if only for a few days.
April also brings Earth Day, and while the calendar marks it as April 22, sustainability is front of mind throughout the year at the Inn. While we are grateful to be Forbes Responsible Hospitality Verified, ultimately, what matters most are the daily efforts championed by our team that help care for the place we call home. From sustainable design to reducing waste and supporting ecological health, this long-standing commitment remains rooted in respect for the land and community we’re fortunate to be part of.
Tofino is a community that wholeheartedly embraces creativity and collaboration. We have seen this come to life in the recent revival of the Clayoquot Sound Theatre, now a vibrant hub of performance and community gatherings. With support from a grant through the West Coast Sustainable Tourism Association, the theatre has undergone major renovations, enhancing its acoustics, accessibility, and capacity. With its grand piano and flexible space, it has become a stage for everything from concerts to dance classes. It’s heartening to see how our small town continues to nurture spaces that bring people together. More exciting community developments are just around the corner, with the next round of grants being announced soon.

For those joining us on the coast this season, we look forward to welcoming you. And if your stay falls over Mother’s Day next month, it’s a wonderful time to treat someone special to brunch at The Pointe Restaurant. As it’s a cherished tradition for many, we do recommend reserving your table in advance.
With warm wishes for a rejuvenating and inspiring spring,
Charles
