Beaches
Tofino’s beaches are among the most breathtaking in the world, offering limitless opportunities to be immersed in nature’s raw beauty throughout the year. Sun-bleached driftwood and windswept trees line the shores, while the expansive sands are perfect for peaceful walks, picnics, and observing the shifting tides. Sit back and watch the surfers riding the waves, embracing the coast’s untamed, wild spirit.
Hiking and nature trails
From the onsite rainforest loop trail at the Inn to the expansive routes within Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and the Big Tree Trail on Meares Island, choose self-guided or guided hiking adventures. Local operators offer exceptional private hiking tours that are educational, fun and safe, designed to foster a deeper connection with nature while sharing insights into the rich, indigenous history and diverse flora and fauna of the land.

Biking
Cycling in Tofino is a great way to explore Tofino and its surroundings. Ride to the town or enjoy a leisurely cruise along the 8.8 km ʔapsčiik t̓aši (Multi Use Path) that connects Tofino with Ucluelet and the stunning beaches in between. For longer journeys, electric bikes provide a comfortable alternative to driving to Long Beach or venturing into the park’s trails. We offer guests complimentary cruisers and helmets on a first-come, first-served basis - perfect for riding the compact sand on Chesterman Beach.
Bird watching
Every year, thousands of migratory shorebirds pass through Tofino, travelling from South and Central America to their Arctic breeding grounds. British Columbia’s diverse landscapes on the Pacific Flyway host some of the world’s most renowned birding locations. Whether you’re eager to spot Tufted puffins, Bald eagles, or Western sandpipers, don’t forget your binoculars for a chance to witness this stunning avian migration.

Located at the southern end of Wickaninnish Beach, the Kwistis Visitor Centre—meaning "the other end of the beach" in the Nuu-chah-nulth language—provides visitors with an immersive experience of the living history and vibrant culture that define the West Coast. Engage in tales of traditional whale hunts, view replicas of First Nations longhouses, and watch whales, storms, and surfers from the viewing deck. You can also find beautiful, handcrafted arts and crafts in the Centre's Gift Shop.
