25th Anniversary of Clayoquot Sound’s UNESCO Biosphere Region Designation
On Saturday, September 20, the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust and ƛaʔuukʷiʔatḥ (Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations) will host a regional gathering in Tofino to mark the 25th anniversary of Clayoquot Sound’s UNESCO Biosphere Region designation. From 10 a.m. until dusk, the Wickaninnish Community School field will welcome as many as 800 attendees, including the five Nuu-chah-nulth Nations, local residents, and visitors.
The day will feature cultural sharing, storytelling, workshops, and a community meal. It’s an opportunity to honour the environmental and cultural legacy of this place while building connections for a sustainable future. Contributions of any size are welcome to support event costs, including transportation, food, and cultural honoraria.
