Housekeeping Team Leader

As a Housekeeping Team Leader you will:

  • Ensure efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Chateaux, AAA 4 & 5 Diamond and Forbes Standards
  • Be true to Our Promise, meet and exceed the service philosophies and standards of the Inn
  • Lead by example and be a pro-active member of the Wickaninnish Inn Housekeeping Team, and consistently demonstrate a positive and team-building approach
  • In the absence of the Housekeeping Manger or Supervisor/s, be the contact person for all staff or guests who may be requiring immediate assistance, and follow up with the Housekeeping Manager or Supervisor as necessary
  • Be involved in the creation, implementation and maintenance of all Housekeeping training materials, as well as periodically review, develop, implement, and maintain training program including documents, procedures and processes
  • Plan and lead Annual Refresher Training for all frontline positions in the Housekeeping Department, including Safety, WHMIS, and other training as required
  • Assist the Housekeeping Leadership Team, as they are responsible and accountable for the actions of all Housekeeping team members. Work as a “leader” assisting the team as they strive to meet or exceed guest expectations
  • Participate in the creation, implementation and maintenance of systems designed to organize and control the efficient flow of guests, staff and supplies through the Housekeeping Department
  • Be responsible for the overall cleanliness and physical condition of the Housekeeping Department and storage areas, when on duty
  • Complete all assigned administrative responsibilities required to maintain the smooth operation of the Housekeeping Department
  • Keep the Inn guests and staff safe and free from harm
  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager and Supervisor/s with selected Human Resources functions within the Housekeeping Team

  • Exemplary customer service skills and a demonstrated willingness to exceed guest expectations are the minimum expectation for all Wickaninnish team members
  • Must possess the desire and willingness to assist in leading a world-class Housekeeping team
  • Previous housekeeping experience is required
  • Minimum 1-year management or supervisory experience in the Hospitality Industry and/or a related service industry OR 2 years of front-line experience in a high-end luxury facility is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with guestroom technology such as Apple products, Bluetooth, Smart Tv’s, etc.
  • Familiarity and desire to learn about standard operating procedures, performance coaching, team-building and motivation, scheduling and cost management
  • WHMIS certification or willingness to obtain
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are needed
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a stressful environment, and creative problem solving skills are necessary
  • Working knowledge of Maestro, File Maker Pro, Microsoft Word & Excel are assets.
  • Must enjoy shift work and be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Good Human Resources skills are required
  • Ability to make a commitment of 2 years to the position
