Just one-and-a-half short years after opening, the Inn was named as a Relais & Châteaux property. The designation was unusual as it occurred well ahead of the normally required three-year operation period for consideration.
The designation honors the Inn as one of just over 400 hotels and restaurants in 45 countries throughout the world which uphold the Relais & Châteaux quality charter of the "five C's" - character, courtesy, calm, charm and cuisine.
In 2007, Managing Director Charles McDiarmid was recognized with the Passion Trophy, presented to owners of Relais & Châteaux properties who, with exceptional personal commitment and creative vision, have transformed guest stays into cherished memories.

Forbes Travel Guide announces its Global Star Ratings twice yearly. Only properties that meet their hospitality standards — the most stringent in the industry — achieve a Five Star, Four Star or Recommended rating. Forbes professional inspectors anonymously check into and check out every rated property regularly, evaluating more than 500 criteria to determine a Star Rating that establishes a global benchmark for luxury travel. The Wickaninnish Inn is proud to have been consistently rated a four star property, and Ancient Cedars Spa a four star spa.
