Innsider Tips

Vacations should be about the journey, but we’ve all relished the glee of returning home and showing photos to friends, family, and those envious neighbours. And for every snapshot, there seems to be an accompanying “now, if you go, you have to stay in that suite” or “the bartender there makes a mean dirty martini!” Well, think of this webpage as your post-getaway party, gone high-tech!

Inn-side: all about the Inn

Ride a bike into town - it's flat and takes about 20 minutes. When you come back, order a bottle of Cannubi Barolo or one of the BC red wines and relax in the bar of the Pointe Restaurant. A great way to relax before dinner!

If anything at all is not to your satisfaction, don't hesitate to let the staff know about it. When we returned from a disastrous kayak excursion and told the staff, we were amazed at the response. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Sign up for the Inn’s complimentary nature walk on Saturday mornings. It’s informative, and a great way to learn about the area.

Fill up your soaker tub, order Cognac from room service, and let your glass float in the bath... The warm Cognac tastes even better with a great ocean view!

Outside: what to do, what to see, or what to wear!

We couldn't believe what we saw within 200m of the coffee lounge! Walks (or hikes) are our thing, so we were delighted to find that our stay included a complimentary nature walk on the beach. Within a few steps, at low tide, we were overwhelmed with an abundance of wildlife! Starfish are so often confined to what you see dried up in shops or seaside-inspired interior schemes, but here were real ones - full of colourful, voluptuous life. Despite having a seaside upbringing myself, I have never seen as many in such a small area. We even saw a Bald Eagles' nest! This was only one of many special memories of our stay. We'll be back...

Save some energy for an evening surf on Chesterman Beach. The wind calms down, there are fewer people in the water, and the sun setting behind the trees will only make that last wave more epic.

We love Schooner Trail at low tide (check the Tide Guide in your room!) This beautiful walk in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve winds through the rainforest on the boardwalk, and opens up to the beach for some great beachcombing.

Take a 10 minute water taxi across the Tofino Inlet to Meares Island and stroll through the old growth rainforest. Commune with some of the largest and oldest trees in the world - you'll see why it’s named the Big Tree Trail!
