Recognition

Just one-and-a-half short years after opening, the Inn was named as a Relais & Châteaux property. The designation was unusual as it occurred well ahead of the normally required three-year operation period for consideration.

The designation honors the Inn as one of just over 400 hotels and restaurants in 45 countries throughout the world which uphold the Relais & Châteaux quality charter of the "five C's" - character, courtesy, calm, charm and cuisine.

In 2007, Managing Director Charles McDiarmid was recognized with the Passion Trophy, presented to owners of Relais & Châteaux properties who, with exceptional personal commitment and creative vision, have transformed guest stays into cherished memories.

The Inn is honoured to be among 23 lodgings worldwide (and the sole Canadian property) to be named a 2008 Grand Award Winner in this "connoisseurs' worldwide guide to peaceful and unspoiled places". Inns and hotels with this distinction must be relatively intimate in size, located in peaceful and aesthetically pleasing surroundings, with a consistent devotion to personal service.

Properties are evaluated during incognito inspections by means of a quantified checklist, and "that intangible summary impression that separates the good from the truly enchanting."
