Wickaninnish Inn Named Number 1 Resort in Canada Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Survey 2013
(Tofino, BC) Today, the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino BC was named the number 1 resort in Canada by the Condé Nast Traveler Magazine readers in the 2013 Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Survey.
On the heels of a beautifully sunny Thanksgiving weekend, the team at the Wickaninnish Inn was delighted to start the week discovering their number one ranking in the Condé Nast readers’ poll.
“Being singled out by the knowledgeable readers of Condé Nast Traveler is a great honour. Our team is consistently striving to improve our Inn and our destination for world travelers and it seems our many recent enhancements have been noticed.” says Charles McDiarmid, Managing Director at the Wickaninnish Inn. “I am pleased for my colleagues at the Inn, for my family and our many dedicated suppliers. Recognition like the Readers’ Choice Survey makes us all pleased and proud to have chosen careers in the hospitality industry. Moving up in the rankings from our number six spot in last year’s Canadian Resorts category to number one is truly gratifying.”
Condé Nast Traveler offers a broader listing of the Top 100 Hotels & Resorts in the World. On this list, the Wickaninnish Inn ranks a respectable 52nd spot on the list of the best accommodation providers found around the world.
Nearly 80,000 people took part in this year’s Condé Nast Traveler readers’ poll. Results of the survey were reported in the October edition of the magazine and released on-line today. Over one million votes were cast for resorts, hotels, cities, islands and airlines from all over the world.
Earlier this summer, the Wickaninnish Inn was also recognized by the readers of another prestigious magazine, Travel + Leisure. In that readers’ survey The Wick was placed #1 resort hotel in British Columbia and #2 resort hotel in Canada.
McDiarmid goes on to say, “We are seeing many of our American friends returning to and rediscovering all that Tofino has to offer. As the U.S. economy continues to improve we are gratified to see more travelers coming our way. Destination BC informs us USA over-night stays in BC in the first half of 2013 are up 5.4% over the same time period in 2012 and we anticipate continued improvement through the remainder of this year and throughout 2014.
