Relais & Châteaux Property Spotlight: The Goring Hotel London
Since 1910, The Goring Hotel has been offering quiet luxury and attentive hospitality in London’s elegant Belgravia neighbourhood. The Goring, part of the Relais & Châteaux family, has won numerous awards and is frequently named the best hotel in London. It most recently made headlines when Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, stayed there the night before her wedding to Prince William.
The 69-room hotel has been owned and operated by the Goring family since it opened, and is the only family-owned five-star hotel in London. It has welcomed countless famous and aristocratic guests over the past century, including attendees at the coronations of both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. It was the world’s first hotel to install en suite bathrooms for all guests, one of the first to offer air conditioning throughout the property, and, in 2013, was granted a Royal Warrant for Hospitality Services by her Majesty the Queen.
The Wickaninnish Inn’s managing director, Charles McDiarmid, recently visited The Goring, and says, “We had an amazing time and were so fortunate to have stayed four wonderful nights at The Goring Hotel. It is such a gem, a true R&C feel in the heart of the city. It was truly one of the most memorable hotel stays I have ever had. We all felt like part of the Goring family long before we departed – although I think our daughter thought she was, in fact, Princess Kate!”
