A Note From Charles June 2013
At long last, summer has arrived here on the west coast of Vancouver Island, bringing sunshine, warm weather and friends new and old to the Wickaninnish Inn.
It’s always a busy time of year for us. As the only resort on Chesterman Beach, we want to share all the beauty of this special setting with our guests, so we’ve been busy planning some special things just in time for summer.
One of those is our Crab Cookouts. Starting June 24th, we invite our in-house guests down to the beach on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings to watch the sunset and enjoy one of Tofino’s favourite traditions: cooking up sweet local Dungeness crab with all the fixin’s. At the Inn, that includes some pretty decadent desserts. Come join us down at the beach – and bring your appetite!
Of course, there are plenty of other things to do in Tofino too, and we encourage our guests to get out and explore Clayoquot Sound and the surrounding wilderness. The Inn has always been committed to supporting our local activity providers – after all, most of them are our friends and neighbours from way back – and our Clefs d’Or Concierge team can help set you up with the perfect adventure customized just for you.
No one knows the area’s outfitters and captains like our Chief Concierge Jason McWhinnie and his team. They’ve long been the region’s best experts in creating personalized itineraries with activities such as bear, bird or whale watching. Now they can connect you with a couple of new activities: local cultural tours, which introduce our guests to the fascinating traditions of our First Nations people, nature tours through Pacific Rim National Partk, and standup paddleboarding (SUP). SUP is the hottest fitness craze going and an idyllic way to enjoy the beauty of our shoreline.
Nothing can compare to an encounter with nature, especially here on Vancouver Island’s wild west coast. Visit us, and let the concierge team at the Wickaninnish Inn arrange a close encounter of your own.
