Feast! Your Senses this Month at the Wickaninnish Inn

Tofino, BC - The Wickaninnish Inn invites you to Feast! Your Senses this month during Tofino’s second annual culinary festival.

Tofino may be a small town, but it is big on offering a world-class culinary experience. Feast! http://www.feastbc.comis a 16-day celebration of the best Tofino has to offer the discerning epicurean. The festival highlights boat-to-table cuisine practices embraced by Tofino’s top restaurants, including the renowned Pointe Restaurant at the Wickaninnish Inn, a mainstay on the culinary scene here for many years. Prix fixe menus, two Inspirational Chef’s Tables and a Boat-to-BBQ event during Feast! will allow guests to experience the bounty of the very waters the Pointe overlooks with its 240-degree view.

During the festival, Pointe Restaurant Chef de Cuisine Nicholas Nutting will welcome former Wickaninnish Inn Chef Andrew Springett (now of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology). Chef Springett will take the reins once again from May 19-25th with a prix fixe menu of his design. The Pointe then welcomes Chef Lucais Syme of the Italian La Quercia in Vancouver from May 26th through June 1st with his own set menu.

On May 18th Chefs Springett and Nutting will be reunited in the kitchen once again (Chef Nutting worked under Chef Springett during his first tenure at the Pointe) for the first Inspirational Chef’s Table. The entire Pointe kitchen brigade, along with these two chefs, will bring the spirit of salmon alive with a five-course tasting menu. The Pointe brigade and guest Chef Syme present a second Inspirational Chef’s Table May 25th. This time diners will enjoy a five-course menu focused on spot prawns. Guests are welcome to share these experiences in the Rainforest section of the Pointe Restaurant at 7:30pm on each of the appointed evenings. Each Chef Table is offered at a cost of $75 plus gratuities and alcohol. Suggested wine pairings will be available with each course at an additional cost.

Chefs Springett and Nutting will be heading out on the water with adventurous guests May 20th starting at 9am for a day of fishing with Hymax Fishing Charters of Tofino. Afterwards, guests savour the fruits of each Chef’s labour as Andrew and Nick clean and prepare their own catch for a 6:00pm barbeque on Shell Beach. Team Chef Springett will compete against Team Chef Nutting for bragging rights earned by the team with the biggest fish! Only 10 spaces are available for both fishing and the barbecue at a cost of $200 per person. Visit www.wickinn.com for details about Feast! accommodation packages, which include a three-course prix fixe dinner for two in the Pointe Restaurant.

Tofino’s culinary love affair does not end with Feast! Rather, it leads directly into the 10th annual Tofino Food and Wine Festival – June 1-3rd. As part of the festivities, the Wickaninnish Inn is hosting a winemaker’s dinner with Quail’s Gate Winery June 1st to kick off the festival in style. An intimate evening complete with a multi-course dinner prepared by Chef Nutting and his brigade and paired with Quail’s Gate wines, this event will be hosted by Quail’s Gate winemaker Grant Stanley. Guests wanting to book this event should contact the Inn’s Special Events team to join this memorable evening. Tickets are $150 per. Guests will also have the opportunity to join Grant for an afternoon wine tasting June 1st Between 2-4pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served along with wine samples at a cost of $50 per person.

The next few weeks are a wonderful time to Feast! all of your senses while enjoying Rustic Elegance on Nature’s Edge at the Wickaninnish Inn.
