The Wick Welcomes Two New Members

October 17, 2006

(Tofino, BC) The Management Team at the Wickaninnish Inn is delighted to welcome two new members to the Wick Team.

Jodi Bartlett is a veteran of the Vancouver hospitality industry and is the new Vancouver-based Director of Sales at the Wickaninnish Inn.

Jodi has worked with distinguished Vancouver properties and hospitality organizations since 1986. She started her career in the Front Office of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Vancouver. She then worked with Delta Hotels and Resorts followed by a successful six-and-a-half years with Coast Hotels & Resorts as the Senior Sales Manager covering the Film & Entertainment, Association & the Corporate market segments. Her most recent position has been as the National Sales Manager for the David Green Organization, a Chicago based hospitality company, assisting corporate and association clients in the site selection process for conferences and events.

Jodi has a strong link to the film industry and will be focusing her time on this market sector, as well as developing the group and incentive markets. She will continue to build on the strong relationships the Inn has established with the North American Travel Agency sector.

Also joining the team, in the role of Marketing Planner, is Samantha Fyleris.

Samantha works on site at the Inn. She is the focal point for all marketing activities including media buys, advertising layouts and purchases, web site management and special promotions. Samantha has a strong background in Marketing and Public Relations. She comes to Tofino from la belle province. In Montreal, Ms. Fyleris was the Director of Sales and Public Relations at Montreal’s celebrated steakhouse, La Queue de Cheval and was involved in the opening of the Travel + Leisure 500-rated Hotel St-Paul in Old Montreal, continuing on at this property as the Group Sales & Meetings Manager. This aggressive, young hotelier also worked for two years as Concierge at the legendary Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Fyleris is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, as well as Diploma of Public Relations Management from McGill University. She holds Junior Clefs d’Or as a graduate of the International Concierge Institute.

Charles McDiarmid, Managing Director of the Inn says “These two dynamic marketing people will bring new energy and ideas to the Inn. We look forward to supporting their creativity as they work together to keep the Wickaninnish Inn top of mind in this ever-changing marketplace. It will be exciting to see what this team is able to accomplish.”

This year, the Wickaninnish Inn is celebrating 10 years of storm watching on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The Inn opened its doors in 1996 and has been drawing international travelers to Tofino ever since, encouraging guests to come and experience the power and glory of the Pacific Ocean’s winter storms. Sitting on a rocky promontory, jutting out into the crashing waves of the ocean, the Inn has become synonymous with storm watching around the world.

Winter storm watching packages are now available. For reservation information, contact the Inn at 1.800.333.4604. For more information on all packages, please refer to www.wickinn.com.
