July 29, 2005
Witnessing history, whether it is real life or the Hollywood style of history, is always exciting. Link that with a visit to the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino, BC and you have the makings of an exceptionally memorable weekend.
The Lady Washington, star of Pirates of the Caribbean, and the tall ship, Lynx, will visit Clayoquot Sound Area from July 16 to 19th, 2005. Onboard the vessels will be descendants of historic people who were witnesses to and participants in the events of the late 18th century. Included on the passenger list is a 7th generation, direct descendant of Captain Robert Gray, who will engage in ceremonies of healing and reconciliation with Chiefs and Elders of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation at Opitsat.
From July 16th to July 19th, the ships will be conducting day sails departing from Ucluelet and Tofino. These 3 hour journeys will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the thrill of sailing on an authentic 18th century tall ship while taking part in cross cultural events never before seen on the West Coast.
