A Note From Charles August 2014
The last few days of August are on the horizon and already the days are starting to get a little shorter and the nights a little cooler. Fortunately September is one of the most beautiful and relaxing months in Tofino providing the perfect opportunity to take advantage of this summers last few glorious days.
Here at the Inn, we’re taking time for our favourite summer activities: a crab cookout on the beach, perhaps, or a sunset paddle in Clayoquot Sound, a leisurely bike ride along the Multi Use Path from Tofino or a round of golf during the upcoming Wickaninnish Inn Pro Am Golf Tournament. (Details below.)
We’re also taking time to look back at some of the highlights of the summer, which include the huge honour of the Inn’s being named best resort hotel in Canada by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine in their World’s Best Awards.
In fact, the Inn has made this prestigious list for more than 10 years in a row now, a true testament both to our dedicated team and to you, our loyal guests. The World’s Best Awards rely on guest experiences and knowing that you truly recognize our efforts makes this award that much more meaningful. You can find the full results of The World’s Best Awards for hotels, resorts, spas, airlines, cruise lines and other businesses in the magazine’s August 2014, as well as at www.travelandleisure.com/worldsbest.
This isn’t the only recognition the Inn has received over the years. In 2012, Travel + Leisure named the Inn’s Ancient Cedars Spa the top Hotel Spa in the Continental U.S. and Canada, and Best Hotel Spa Overall (worldwide) in 2008. In 2013, the Inn was named to the Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle, a recognition for making that publication’s Gold List over five years in a row. The Inn has also been recognized in Andrew Harper’s prestigious Reader’s Travel Awards, scooped up numerous Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, gathered a basketful of stars from the Forbes Travel Guide, and received many other nods over the years. We couldn’t be more proud.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their experiences here at the Wickaninnish Inn.
And now it’s time for one last s’more roasted over the fire, one last summer sunset stroll on Chesterman beach, one last handful of blackberries fresh from the vine, and one last heady taste of summer.
